It is said that Bat Trang village was established in the 14th or 15th century in several documents but according to the villagers, it appeared earlier. Visiting Bat Trang village, you have a great chance to make your own handmade pottery items. You will be provided a rotating table and a tray of clay. Shopkeepers will guide you how to create a ceramic product and then you feel free to shape your product. It costs you about VND10,000 upwards to join its pottery-making workshops and VND50,000 for the artisans to bake and glaze the final product.
Besides, there are a lot of ceramic stores where you can buy some souvenirs like necklaces, bracelets, key chains, piggy banks for your relatives and friends. Bat Trang village has been well-known for the high-quality ceramic and pottery products with reasonable price. Therefore, a lot of people from surrounding regions and abroad come here to buy their favorite ceramic products.
It is often crowded during weekends when a lot of college and high school students visit the village. To reach there, you can take the number 47 bus at Long Bien station, ride a motorbike or rent a private car. It will take you about 25 minutes.
