The latest Muong Hoa funicular connecting Sapa with Fansipan cable car station has been officially launched since 31st March 2018. It is built by Sun Group with a total length of approximately 2km, making it the longest funicular in Vietnam to date.
This modern funicular departs from the MGallery hotel in Sapa town and finishes at the Fansipan cable car station, passing through two tunnels and four viaducts at a maximum speed of 10m/s with a capacity of 2,000 passengers per hour. This route reduces the travel time to 6 minutes instead of 15-20 minutes by car on the rugged mountain road.
Muong Hoa funicular is equipped with two cabins designed and manufactured by Garaventa, a world’s leading manufacturer in Switzerland. Its interior reminds tourists of the 20th century classic and elegant European cabins with lighting systems, antique ceiling fans, braces and gold-plated metal details. Each cabin is 20m long, 3m wide, weighing up to 25 tons and capable of containing 200 passengers. From the cabin, through large transparent glass windows, tourists can admire the majestic natural beauty of Muong Hoa valley, peaceful villages and picturesque landscape in the northwest of Vietnam.
The journey to explore the northwest region by Muong Hoa funicular is like a movie with breathtaking footage. In this movie, tourists are not only overwhelmed by the ancient French architecture, elegant station designed by the famous American architect Bill Bensley, with dome, high ceilings and decorative details but also immediately attracted by the elegance and sophistication of the cabins’ interior.
When reaching to Fansipan station, tourists will continue to explore Sun World Fansipan Legend with the modern cable car system. Passing through the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, admiring spectacular beauty from the middle of the sky, conquering the legendary Indochinese roof and worshipping the spiritual cultural complex on the Fansipan peak area are the best lively experiences you may never forget.
Located in the Fansipan tourism complex, the new Muong Hoa funicular contributes to perfecting and diversifying services and experiences for travelers to the northwestern highlands. It will connect 5-star MGallery hotel, which is open late 2018 in Sapa, with Sun World Fansipan Legend. These works will create a leading complex of entertainment, relaxation, shopping and tourism in Vietnam.
The price for two-way funicular is VND 200,000/ adult and VND 150,000/ child (1m-1m3). However, from now until 31st December 2018, Sun World Fansipan Legend launches a promotion program of Muong Hoa funicular, the two-way ticket price is reduced to 75%, only 50,000 VND/ ticket, applicable for both adults and children. This will create a great chance for tourists to experience the most modern funicular in Vietnam and then discover the Fansipan peak, the roof of Indochina.
