Con Dao is a name of an archipelago of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in the south of Vietnam. It is the largest island in the chain of 16 mountainous islands and islets, with a total area of 76 square kilometers.
This island is known for not only the famous prison system established and ran by French colonist and American military but also the lovely romantic beaches and the beauty of the wild nature. Ranked 4th in the top 10 must-see places in Asia in 2016 by Lonely Planet magazine, the island has now become an international charming tourism destination for tourists worldwide to explore.
Since Con Dao is isolated from the mainland and located in the Asian monsoon climate and influenced by ocean climate, its weather is relatively cool and pleasant all year round. There are two seasons in Con Dao islands, namely, rainy season and dry season. The rainy season runs from May to November with the highest rainfall in August and September. Meanwhile, in the dry season, from December to April, it is cool with the annual average temperature of 27°C.
